The UK Hip-Hop Scene…

Quite recently I’ve become aware of how incredible the UK “conscious” political scene is and wanted to share some of the artists with you in case you haven’t heard it. Lyrical analysis and so on will no doubt follow reasonably soon.

First of all, this is Lowkey, probably the best known of the artists I’ve started following:

I was incredibly happy to see an MC approaching feminism in such an inspiring way. Can’t lie: was really moved by this song.

Second, this is Akala on BBC 1Extra’s Fire in the Booth.

Serious, articulate, inspired and awesome.

And then, Mic Righteous, who I think is just incredible. I’ve never seen passion like this from an MC. Watch this space.
